First Look
Italeri has released a new series of kits which cover famous architectural sites around the globe. In this release, we have a nice-looking kit of the Statue of Liberty atop its distinctive pedestal. The kit is molded in light tan styrene and presented on two parts trees plus one tree of the statue molded in vinyl.
The kit assembles simply and logically and will look fine without painting, but detailed painting instructions are provided for the colors of the pedestal. Much of the fun wil be painting the statue itself to provide depth as well as a hint of weathering on the green patina. The well-illustrated instructions show the step by step assembly process along with nice painting instructions using (of course) Italeri paint color references, but these will logically translate to any paint line you prefer.
If you are a student of architecture or are interested in an interesting project different from your usual choices, give one of these architectural kits a try. These kits also provide a nice opportunity to try out various structural weathering techniques as well.
My sincere thanks to Hobbico for this review sample!
