First Look
One of the most numerous and famous aircraft in the world of aviation history was the Polikarpov U-2. It was designed as a basic training aircraft. The maiden flight was in June 1927. During World War II, U-2 aircraft were successfully used as liaison and light cargo aircraft. In 1944, after N.N. Polikarpov passed away, the aircraft was renamed to Po-2.
The ICM kit consists of 71 parts molded in grey styrene and 2 parts molded in clear styrene. All of the parts are molded very well and feature great details. There is no flash present.
The cockpit detail is very nice and the instrument panels are supplied as decals. The seats are comprised of 6 parts each and will look great when completed.
The engine is comprised of 11 parts and features some of the nicest details that I have seen. It will look fantastic under paint.
A very nice rigging diagram is included and should be easy to follow. Markings are included for 2 aircraft, one in overall green and one in green with white splotches. Both have a light blue bottom. The markings consist of just red stars and a couple of white stripes for the overall green aircraft.
Test fitting of the main components show the fit to be excellent and no problems should be encountered during assembly.
My sincere thanks to Squadron Mail Order for this review sample!
