First Look
The Daimler-Benz company designed the L1500S chassis with 1.5 ton capacity in 1941. Most of these chassis received closed bodies for a fire team of 8 men. These trucks also pulled a TSA trailer equipped with a water pump. Other equipment included ladders and fire hoses.
Up to the end of 1944 there were about 3850 fire trucks produced on all chassis types. Vehicles on the Daimler-Benz chassis were extremely durable and reliable. L1500S LLG fire trucks were used by the German Fire Police (Feuerschutzpolizei) up till the end of the war.
The ICM kit of the L1500S LLG Light Fire Truck consists of 233 parts molded in tan styrene, 10 parts molded in clear styrene and 7 vinyl tires. All of the parts are very well molded and feature very nice details. Flash is minimal and the seam lines are very fine and will be easy to clean up. The instructions are very well written and should be easy to follow. Decals are provided for two vehicles and are printed well. Gauges for the instrument panel are provided on the decal sheet.
Some key features of the kit are:
- Full engine
- Detailed chassis
- Detailed drive train
- Tires feature nice tread pattern
- Interior details
- Hood can be built open or closed
- Equipment trailer provided
This is another winner in ICM's growing line of soft skinned vehicles from WWII. Great detail and very good fit will make this one a great build!
My sincere thanks to Squadron Mail Order for this review sample!
