First Look
Dragon is back with another release of the Sea King Helicopter family. This time it is the S-61A version in J.M.S.D.F. markings.
The kit consists of 185 styrene parts molded in grey and 21 styrene parts molded in clear. All of the parts feature very nice details. Some flash is present, but should not present any problems during assembly. Markings are included one aircraft:
Shirase Flight Division Yokosuka District, HS-101 J.M.S.D.F., Tateyama A.B. Aircraft in overall dark grey with an orange nose.
Some key features of this kit are:
- Cockpit glazing realistically presented with crystal clear parts
- Rearview mirrors molded on cockpit
- Newly designed S-61A
- 5 blade tail rotor realistically produced
- Detailed landing gear and buoyancy sponsons
- Authentic rotor system
- New spot light
- Curved clear parts
- Realistic steps
- Strengthened landing gear
- Realistic pilot seats
- Slightly curved rotor blades
- Sonobuoy cover
Test fitting of the main parts show that overall fit is nice. No problems should be encountered during assembly.
My sincere thanks to DML for this review sample!
