First Look
AMT/Round 2 Models has reissued the K'Tinga-class battle cruiser which captures the look of the Klingon cruiser that starred in the early action sequence of the first Star Trek movie. AMT didn't make any real changes to the tooling though this time around they added one of their new display stands which is nice.
The kit is molded in green styrene and is presented on four parts trees plus the upper and lower 'wing' halves and the display stand. Construction is very simple and you'll likely be spending more time masking and painting the model that assembling it.
One change that you will appreciate is the decal sheet. Gone are the stickers that were in the previous release and we have waterslide decals in their place.
For those who were hoping for a more accurately detailed version of this kit (compared to the studio models), keep an eye on places like CultTVman Hobbies for resin updates. If you're patient however, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new K'Tinga in 1/350 scale to compliment the two Enterprises. We shall see...
My sincere thanks to Round2 Models for this review sample
