First Look
White Ensign Models continues to expand its product lines into broader areas and this detail set is no exception. This time, they've released this set for a water-cooled .50 caliber machine gun installation that you might see fitted on a Gato-class submarine or other small naval support ship.
This set provides three resin parts and a small fret of photo-etch. You can actually use the set effectively without the photo-etch as the resin set provides the pedestal, gun, and ammo can. Some installations used a gun cradle atop a different style pedestal, and these parts are rendered in photo-etch. In fact, the photo-etch fret gives you two complete sets of cradle-type mounts and pedestals.
The instructions provide good references for parts assembly and placement.
If you're looking to render one of the many variations in the Gato/Balao class submarines, this set will add additional flavor to your display.
My sincere thanks to White Ensign Models for this review sample!
