First Look

Eduard from the Czech Republic is easily the most prolific producer of aftermarket details. Period. Their series of photo-etched detail sets have brought additional fidelity to otherwise bland subjects, and have taken even the best-produced models and kicked them up a notch or two with details that cannot be produced with injection-molded plastic. Many AMS modelers will collect the relevant Eduard photo-etch sets for a given project, but they'll also go out and gather specific resin enhancements as well.

USS Oliver H. Perry FFG 7 Detail Set

In this release, Eduard has provided an extensive detail set for any of the Academy 1/350 Perry-class FFG kit releases. The details/enhancements provided in this set include:

  • Forecastle frames
  • Replacement bridge face w/windows
  • Extensive railings
  • Ladders to replace molded-on ladders
  • Gun mount details
  • Photo-etched radar antenna
  • Photo-etched tracking antenna details
  • Photo-etched SATCOM antennas
  • Details for the RHIB boat
  • Replacement flight deck control tower
  • Choice of folded or extended rotor blades for SH-60

This set provides some nice detail updates to the Academy kits and will add some nice eye-catching details to your next masterpiece.

My sincere thanks to Eduard for this review sample!
