First Look

Superscale International is well-known for their aftermarket decals. At one time these decals were produced under the Microscale brand before the business was split up, but even then Superscale decals were still printed by Microscale. Of course this company goes back many decades and the company more recently became part of Squadron's line-up of hobby products. This set was printed by Cartograf, so the times sure have changed!

P-40K P-40K

This set was produced for the AMT/ERTL, AMtech, or Hasegawa P-40K kits. The three aircraft featured in this set include:

  • P-40K-1, 13, 64 FS/57 FG, North Africa, 1942, 'Death on Wings'
  • P-40K-5, 400, 16 FS/51 FG, CBI, 1943, 'Duke'
  • P-40K-5, 209, 25 FS/51 FG, CBI, 1943, 'Miss Wanna II'

The set provides sufficient national markings and stencils for two of the three examples. The instructions provide color references to FS 595 paints. These are some nice alternative subjects to the markings supplied by the original kits.

My sincere thanks to Squadron Mail Order for this review sample!
