First Look
GDkits.com has released this first set of decals under their brand, these providing the markings for the Mirage IIIS and Mirage IIIDS in Swiss Air Force service. These decals were designed for the Kinetic Models 1/48 Mirage III kits and this is one of the better tailored decal sets we've seen.
This set is features Mirage IIIS, J-2301, Staffel 16, Swiss Air Force, but it includes markings to replicate virtually any Mirage IIIS or Mirage IIIDS serving in Staffel 16 or Staffel 17 operating with the current low-visibility camouflage. The sheet is printed by Cartograf and the printing is very well done. What's more, none of these decals require the modeler to stack multiple layers of markings atop one another to recreate artwork.
What makes this set particularly tailored to the Kinetic Mirage III kit are the instructions - they walk through the various details on the airframe and identify the specific Kinetic parts needed to replicate the Swiss Mirage III. Painting instructions are provided for the low-visibility tactical scheme using FS 595 colors as well as Gunze Aqueous colors.
This is a nice decal release and it is obviously well-researched. These decals are available directly from the GDkits.com website and will provide you with some distinctive options for your Kinetic Mirage III kit.
