First Look

FlightDecs of Canada has released their next installment of interesting decals. In this set are five F-86 Sabres built under license by Canadair. Early marks were powered by the same J47 that powered the American F-86s, but the Mk.5 and Mk.6 Sabres had the more powerful (and reliable) Avro Orenda engine. With the slatted wings added to the Mk.6, this version would be the sport model of the Sabre series.

One might not realize that the Canadair Sabres saw service in some interesting places. This set looks at the Mk.2 and Mk.6 of the RCAF, two Mk.4 of the RAF, and a Mk.6 of the Luftwaffe, the one with the excellent nose and tail markings of JG 71. This set you complete markings for:

  1. Sabre Mk.2, 413 Sqn, RCAF
  2. Sabre Mk.6, JG 71 Richtofen, Bundesluftwaffe
  3. Sabre Mk.4, 234 Sqn, RAF
  4. Sabre Mk.6, 434 Sqn, RCAF
  5. Sabre Mk.4, 66 Sqn, RAF

The instructions include four-views of each aircraft with nice color references and corresponding FS595 colors.

My sincere thanks to FlightDecs for this review sample!
