First Look
AOA Decals has returned with another interesting set of subjects for the Tamiya 1/32 F-4J Phantom II kit. This set looks at one aircraft, one bureau number assigned to VF-143 and the three distinctive schemes it carried on three different cruises.
The subjects included in this set:
- F-4J, 155887, VF-143, NK/102, USS Constellation, 1969-70
- F-4J, 155887, VF-143, NK/102, USS Enterprise, 1971-72
- F-4J, 155887, VF-143, NK/102, USS Enterprise, 1972-73
The third option carries the name of Commander Harley Hall who was executive officer on the third cruise and was the last American to be listed as a POW when he and his RIO ejected out of their stricken aircraft in January 1973. Cdr Hall's fate is still not known though his RIO was released from Hanoi. If you saw the 1975 production of Threshold - The Blue Angel Experience, Cdr Hall was Blue Angel One during the 1969-71 seasons featured in that film.
